School terms, holidays and national exam results days for 2024 have been released on the Ministry of Education (MOE) academic calendar.
Academic terms
For MOE kindergarten, primary and secondary schools, the first term of the 2024 school year will be from Jan 2 until Mar 8.
Junior College (JC) students in Year Two and Millennia Institute (MI) students in Year Two and Three will start their first school term on Jan 8. First year JC and MI students will begin school on Feb 2.
Terms Two and Three will be from Mar 18 to May 24 and Jun 24 to Aug 30 respectively for kindergarten, primary, secondary and post-secondary schools.
On Sep 9, Term Four will begin for MOE kindergarten, primary, secondary and post-secondary institutions.
For kindergarten, primary and secondary schools, the fourth term will end on Nov 15.
The fourth school term will be until Nov 22 for JC Year One, MI Year One and Two students. JCs Year Two and MI Year Three students will complete their last academic term after the end of the GCE A-Level examinations.
School holidays
Primary, secondary, JC and MI schools will have a total of four vacation periods after each term.
The Term One school holidays will be from Mar 9 to Mar 17. The school break after Term Two will be from May 25 to Jun 23, while the Term Three school vacation period is scheduled to be from Aug 31 to Sep 8.
Kindergarten, primary and secondary students will have their Term Four school holidays from Nov 16 to Dec 31.
The year-end break for JC Year One, MI Year One and Year Two students will be from Nov 23 to the end of the year. JC Year Two and MI Year Three students will have their end-of-year vacation from Nov 30 until Dec 31.
In addition to the school breaks and public holidays, there will also be scheduled school holidays.
These include Teacher’s Day (Aug 30) and Children’s Day (Oct 4). For Youth Day (Jun 30), the following Monday (Jul 1) will be a school holiday.
National exams results days
The national GCE O-Level results release is likely to occur between Jan 11 and 15. GCE A-Level results release is expected to be between Feb 23 and 27.
