Courses 21/22 and 22/23 will have a more flexible Baccalaureate Assessment for University Access (EBAU) similar to that of exercise 20/21. The Ministry of Education has proposed to the autonomous communities to maintain during this academic year and the following one the formula used the previous year. The EBAU draft was sent a few days ago to the regional governments and the State School Council, which will see it, together with the preliminary draft of the royal decree on minimum high school education, at its meeting on December 21.

The proposal of the Ministry of Pilar Alegría is to keep the Selectivity exam the same as last year, considering that the students have had two special courses as a result of COVID-19. Therefore, "exceptionality" will be maintained in the University entrance exams during this academic year and the next. In this way, there will be a single test with more questions to be chosen by the student that replaces the double option pre-covid model to choose and develop one of them.

For the entrance exam to the University in 2024, as established by the latest education law (Lomloe), there will be a new exam model, an issue on which the Ministries of Universities and Education have already begun to work together with the rectors. This year, the main novelty will be that 2nd year Baccalaureate students will be able to present themselves to the Ebau with a failed subject, thanks to the change introduced in the recently approved royal decree of evaluation, promotion and qualification of the Ministry of Education. Although for this they must meet a series of conditions such as having obtained an average grade of 5, having attended class regularly and having taken the exams.

With the maintenance of the model of the last year, the EBAU will deal with the general subjects of the block of core subjects of the second year of Baccalaureate of the modality chosen for the test and, where appropriate, of the subject of Co-official Language and Literature. The qualification for access to the University is calculated by weighing 40% the qualification of the test and 60% the final qualification of the stage. It will be understood that the access requirements are met when the result of this weighting is equal to or greater than 5 points.

Overcoming the EBAU, to which more than 200,000 young people applied last year, is valid indefinitely. The test is divided into two phases: the general phase (language and literature, foreign language, history and a core subject depending on the Baccalaureate modality taken) and the specific or voluntary phase, where a maximum of four exams can be taken.
