AACRAO Asian American and Pacific Islander Caucus

Mission Statement

The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Caucus provides a communal space for members who are ready to discuss issues, developments and initiatives for individuals of Asian and Pacific Islander descent in higher education. They work to educate other members about the history, contributions and concerns of Asian American and Pacific Islanders.

The AAPI Caucus connects via the Exchange, meets at the monthly Caucus Gatherings, writes articles for AACRAO Connect, and hosts webinars throughout the year. They also convene at AACRAO’s Annual Meeting. The Caucus is open to all AACRAO members.

On November 3, months of hard work, planning and preparation came to fruition with the orientation of the Inaugural cohort of the ASCEND Leadership Development program

ASCEND resides under the LEAD initiative umbrella that was launched last year at the 2018 SEM conference. The LEAD initiative takes a multi-pronged approach at identifying and preparing a diverse group of enrollment leaders to take on leadership roles in Enrollment Management.

ASCEND cohort members had the opportunity to interact with coaches, faculty and cohort facilitators.  They were given an overview of the year long program which will consist of monthly classes and interactions with other cohort members and ASCEND coaches. The knowledge and skills gained while in the ASCEND program will culminate in a Capstone project at the 2020 SEM conference.  I am excited to see what this group of dedicated professional will bring to their universities and the higher education profession. To stay up to date on the LEAD initiative sign up to receive updates on the AACRAO website here.
