The Conner Scholarship was named in honor of John Douglas Conner the first Executive Director of AACRAO in 1966 who served until his retirement in 1988.

The Conner Scholarship is intended for young professionals looking to create connections that translate into more rewarding career experiences, better outcomes for our institutions, and better results for the students we serve. The Conner Scholarship provides support for new and aspiring AACRAO professionals to facilitate travel to and participation in AACRAO meetings or conferences.

The Engagement Grant supports continued, in-person engagement for members of committees, caucuses, and/or work groups to attend AACRAO meetings and events.

This year we were able to hear from some of our scholarship and grant recipients and learn more about their membership with AACRAO and their participation in AACRAO’s 107th Annual Meeting.

Meghan Kattner

My current position is Associate Registrar at San Juan College in Farmington, NM, a role I stepped into last July.  I have worked in higher education since August of 2019, and prior to that, I worked at an ophthalmology practice for 13 years in various capacities.  My AACRAO membership has greatly impacted my professional career.  I used it to take the Registrar 101 course last Fall, and I am grateful for all the resources (the AACRAO library, the listservs) it places at my fingertips.  This will be my first AACRAO annual meeting, and I am excited to make connections with other registrars across the country.  I am also eagerly awaiting the schedule of presentations; being relatively new to this position, I want to learn as much as possible.

Daniel O’Driscoll

Being an AACRAO member for the last 15 years has helped me grow as a Registrar, connected me to others in my field, and has provided me with the knowledge I need to be successful as the landscape of higher education continues to evolve.

I have been to 6 or 7 annual meetings now.  My favorite part of these meetings is learning what creative solutions other institutions have for their interesting challenges, connecting and networking with my colleagues and learning what emerging technologies and trends are on the horizon that may impact our profession.

While my interaction with AACRAO has been limited, I particularly appreciate the AACRAO Connect articles as well as AACRAO Transcript.  These materials provide pertinent information that have a direct impact on the Registrar’s Office functions and development.  Also as a new registrar, the AACRAO FERPA Guide is such a valuable resource!  I refer to this constantly, and I am looking forward to including AACRAO FERPA training materials in trainings across our campus to increase FERPA awareness and knowledge. The 2022 AACRAO Annual Meeting will be my first AACRAO conference, and I am very excited to participate.
