On January 21, 2025, the acting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary, Benjamine Huffman, issued a directive allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as well as Customs and Border Protection (CBP) enforcement actions to be conducted in or near locations previously deemed as “sensitive” areas such as schools, churches, and hospitals.
