  • SEM Conference advisers consider how to help AACRAO members meet demand for EMs

    ​At the 2017 SEM Conference in Phoenix, the SEM Conference advisory board met to discuss this year’s content and look ahead to 2018 planning. At their meeting, the group was riveted by a recently-released AACRAO study on the the career path of the Chief Enrollment Officer​. That study indicates that there will be almost 750 upcoming vacancies in the field of enrollment management.

    The pressure to find new students keeps ratcheting up and our enrollment marketing strategies have been evolving quickly to keep pace. With demographic shifts, declines in domestic high school graduation rates, budgetary pressures, and—more positively—the growing importance of internationalization to prepare our students for careers in the global economy it is not surprising that international enrollment on almost every college and university campus in the United States and Canada has been rising (in many cases quite dramatically) over the past decade.

    In a statement issued on October 6, three higher education associations set forth guidelines on student transfer and the awarding of college credits.
