Last summer AACRAO’s Board of Directors took a look at our Strategic Plan to determine how we can continue to move the needle forward on this living document, yet remain consistent with AACRAO’s Mission, Vision, and Values.  The Strategic plan provides a framework and direction for the association and helps the Board to establish priorities related to goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan.

One area the Board agreed the plan needed was a documented commitment to Diversity and Inclusion.  While this has always been at the forefront for AACRAO, it was not an area that was visible in the Strategic Plan. AACRAO’s updated Strategic plan now includes AACRAO’s commitment to Access, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.  We as an organization will continue to aspire to be an intentionally inclusive community that values the unique contributions of others.  Our mission is to weave Diversity and Inclusion in all aspects of our programming and day to day activities.

One of my projects this year as VP for Access and Equity will involve working with Mike Reilly, AACRAO’s Executive Director; to determine the best Diversity and Inclusion assessment for AACRAO.  The results from the assessment will help to guide the conversations surrounding Diversity and Inclusion.

At this year’s June Leadership meeting, part of our discussion centered on the Strategic Plan.  We received some valuable feedback from the membership, and I would like to personally thank those that shared their ideas and thoughts.  If you have not already done so, please take some time to review the Strategic Plan and feel free to reach out to me with any suggestions and feedback.
