Watch Party | Watch Party with AACRAO's Asian-American and Pacific Islander Caucus

May 21, 3 p.m. ET

Join members of AACRAO's Asian-American and Pacific Islander Caucus as we gather to watch "Breaking Ground," part of a PBS miniseries exploring Asian-American and Pacific Islander history in the U.S. during #AsianHeritageMonth.

"Breaking Ground" explores how in an era of exclusion and U.S. empire, new immigrants arrive from China, India, Japan, the Philippines, and beyond. Barred by anti-Asian laws they become America’s first “undocumented immigrants,” yet they build railroads, dazzle on the silver screen, and take their fight for equality to the U.S. Supreme Court. Book Club | Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning

May 26, 2 p.m. ET

Poet and essayist Cathy Park Hong fearlessly and provocatively blends memoir, cultural criticism, and history to expose fresh truths about racialized consciousness in America in Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning. Part memoir and part cultural criticism, this collection is vulnerable, humorous, and provocative—and its relentless and riveting pursuit of vital questions around family and friendship, art and politics, identity and individuality, will change the way you think about our world.
