We are pleased to announce our new Group V Content Coordinator, Sasha Suzuki. Sasha demonstrated initiative, creativity, energy and has a track record of high engagement as a committee member and chair.

Group V committees work on issues of Access & Equity in higher education. All AACRAO members are eligible to join these committees.

Throughout the selection process the following characteristics were considered as essential to this role:

  • Work with the AACRAO staff liaisons to identify topics and presenters for webinars, online courses, white papers, and more.
  • Establish a relationship and build community with the Group V Coordinator for Access and Equity.
  • Attend the AACRAO Leadership meeting.
  • Have an impact on how AACRAO delivers professional development moving forward.
  • Create community and interest to strengthen and grow the Identifying Caucus Excellence initiative.
  • Conduct research to determine the types of professional development conducted by other non-profit organizations.
Cassandra Moore, who currently serves on the Board of Directors as the Vice President of Access and Equity, was instrumental in the selection process for our new Group V Content Coordinator, saying:

I am so pleased with the responses! Many of you expressed that you were pleased to receive this opportunity! I want to thank you for all that you do on behalf of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO). Your colleges and universities are fortunate to have people like you who are committed to improving the lives of students and families!

We had a chance to ask Sasha some questions regarding her new position, why she chose to pursue it, and what goals she hopes to achieve.

Why did you initially apply for the role?

The Content Coordinator role directly aligns with my passion for creating deeper, more meaningful engagement opportunities for all members.  I believe we must diversify how we reach all members- and it is imperative that we meet members where they are and give them not only a diverse offering of valuable content throughout the year, but also creative ways in which members can engage as we all navigate increased demands on our time and resources.

What goals would you like to achieve?

Group V leaders and committee/caucus members have already done such a phenomenal job and continue to deliver valuable content and opportunities throughout the year!  My goal would be to continue to build upon Group V’s success- and help to find and develop even more means and opportunities for more colleagues to be able to contribute, as well as highlight and celebrate all of our successes and the important work that colleagues are doing to advance our profession and the field.  We have such passionate, knowledgeable, and talented colleagues all around the world- and I would love to tap into them by helping them to connect and engage.  I am looking forward to working with Cassandra, Roslyn, and with all 11 caucuses and committees that comprise Group V!

AACRAO's Group 5 (Access & Equity) Committees work to advance a variety of issues, including:

  • AACRAO Caucuses
  • Community College Issues
  • Graduate and Professional School Issues
  • Professional Acces and Equity
  • Small College Issues
  • Student Access and Equity
