AACRAO SEM - Endorsement Program Celebrates 50th Graduate
Patrick Tanner, Assistant Vice President, Enrollment & Student Services, College of Western Idaho, is the 50th graduate of AACRAO's Strategic Enrollment Management Endorsement Program (SEM-EP).
SEM-EP is a self-paced, 12-18 month professional development program. Program graduates receive a SEM Endorsement which formally recognizes their enrollment management skillset, positions them as leaders in the field, validates the on-the-job experience, and facilitates career advancement. Additionally, graduated participants are awarded an AACRAO Endorsement Badge; this endorsement is an international acknowledgment of enrollment management professionalism.
Tanner, who began his residence life and housing work at the University of Denver and then at Roger Williams University (RI), also served in an administrative role at Penn State’s York campus before moving to Idaho to continue his service at a community college (College of Western Idaho) and his learning at Idaho State University. During his enrollment in the Program, Tanner remembered why he became involved in the collegiate community: the students.
The SEM-EP has been one of the deepest and most fruitful professional development experiences of my career. I have appreciated the opportunity to explore not only the basics with some of the giants in the field, but to deeply discuss successful initiatives with colleagues from around the country will shape my work for years to come.
It’s hard to come away without some great learning because of the...high volume and the quality of what you’re ingesting in terms of the webinars, articles, and the giants of the enrollment management field helping you to understand.
He continues to utilize his knowledge gained from SEM-EP to develop his career in the field of strategic enrollment management and approach the unique obstacles that naturally come with the role of managing student success.
