AACRAO is seeking a member volunteer to represent the association and the records and academic services profession in the development as a member of an advisory group for the Higher Learning Commission’s new Credential Lab initiative.

A successful candidate for this opportunity will be a campus-based professional with strong experience in the Records and Academic Services area, with experience in the administration of microcredentials, work with third-party credential providers, and/or experience or interest in evaluating non-credit experiences for the purposes of academic credit.

In addition to participating in the HLC Credential’s lab work, the representative will be asked to keep the AACRAO Board and Executive team informed of the progress of the work. This may include short written updates and/or update meetings to further engage the association and consider the implications of the work for further AACRAO guidance.

About HLC’s Credential Lab

HLC’s Credential Lab is an innovation hub within HLC that supports institutions and learners in navigating the complex and growing ecosystem of alternative postsecondary credentials and that will be designing a quality assurance approach for external content providers.

There is an increasing number of alternative credentials and content providers emerging, creating an overwhelming need to assure quality and to improve transparency for Colleges and Universities, learners, and employers.

HLC’s Credential Lab will work with multiple teams of diverse and experienced stakeholders to co-design, test, and offer the following solutions:

  • Content Provider Evaluation: A voluntary content provider quality assurance framework and process to evaluate and endorse external content providers.
  • Institution Credentialing Support: Resources and support for colleges and universities in developing high-quality alternative credential programs and in fostering effective partnerships with external content providers, employers, and industries.

Interested members write a short statement of interest that outlines qualifications, and must apply by Wednesday, November 15
