If you’ve ever wondered whether applying to be a participant on the BW Seminar would pay off professionally for you, read what Katrina Brown, Manager for Programs and Operations, Learning Abroad at the University of Utah had to say about that:

Q: What did you like best about the BW Seminar?

A: I liked the opportunity to learn about the German education system while in Germany, with German hosts, and in a small group setting where I had plenty of time to ask questions and network with participants, some of whom were professionals outside of my realm of study abroad. This was refreshing!

Q: What did you learn on the BW Seminar?

A: I was able to informally learn a lot about German culture from so much interaction with our hosts, which was invaluable. I also gained a lot of insight into the German education system, its nuances, history, advantages/disadvantages, and how it’s changing. This will help in my office’s interactions with/advising of German exchange students, of whom we have several each year. It will also help inform our advising of outbound students to Germany, and our decision process for any new partnerships with German institutions.

This year’s Baden-Württemberg Seminar, like last year’s, will take place in Kostanz, in the southwest corner of Germany. This lakeshore city is arguably one of the most beautiful locations in the country, bordering Lake Constance (Bodensee, in German) and ringed in the distance by the foothills of the Alps. Lake Constance touches the shores of not only Germany, but Austria and Switzerland, as well.

Following are some of Katrina’s pictures of Konstanz. They really speak for themselves.
