In late February 2015, AACRAO International Education Services (IES) received a request for evaluation of academic documents for the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Maiduguri in northeastern Nigeria.

AACRAO IES requested the applicant to have official transcripts sent directly from the university to AACRAO. The applicant pointed out that the city of Maiduguri was experiencing constant upheaval, turmoil and threats by Boko Haram. Because of this, the university had closed temporarily. AACRAO confirmed this via news reports from multiple sources.

Due to this, AACRAO issued the evaluation report with this disclaimer:

"Please note that this evaluation was prepared using a photocopy of the applicant’s diploma and transcript. Due to political unrest in Nigeria, the University of Maiduguri was temporarily closed. Although it very recently re-opened, it is unclear whether original transcripts are currently available."

Update: On April 2, 2015, AACRAO received an official transcript delivered directly from the University of Maiduguri. The cover letter was signed by the Deputy Registrar (Exams and Records).
