Over the past few years, the AACRAO membership has called on the organization to look differently at what we consider educational and professional development content. Our current operational structure provides a solid foundation for the delivery of content to support the Annual Meeting, however, there is increasing demand for the delivery of content in other mediums.

Recently, the Board of Directors asked a Structural Review team to review current processes and practices, to recommend new ones to include new content and avenues of delivery, and to identify any additional roles and/or resources required to implement the recommendations.  This team presented its findings to the AACRAO Board in December 2018 for review. The proposed recommendations received Board approval in January 2019.

Here is a summary of those recommendations:

  • The expansion of the role of Group 7 to make it a hub of content ideas not specific to the Annual Meeting.

  • The creation of six (6) new Group Content Coordinators, one for each of Groups 1-6, to interface with their Professional Activities Committees (PACS) to support AACRAO in the creation of content for delivery methods outside of the Annual Meeting program.

  • New content might include webinars, white papers, podcasts, blogs, publications, online learning, articles, etc.

  • The SEM and Tech/Transfer Directors (or their designees) will officially join Group 7 to support the exchange of content across AACRAO meetings.

  • The AACRAO Office will commit human, technical and financial resources to coordinate Group 7 activities.

Call for Volunteers coming soon!  Within the next few weeks, there will be a call for volunteers for the new Content Coordinator positions.  The plan is for the six (6) new Content Coordinators to be selected by March so that the new Group 7 membership can be introduced at the Annual Meeting in April.
