This report on the career profile of chief admissions officers rounds out the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) career profile series. The series also contains reports on the career profiles of chief enrollment management officers and registrars. This series of reports will repeat over time. The purpose of the report is to build a foundation of understanding of the career profile and position responsibilities for chief admissions officers in the United States.

The enrollment value used to delineate the institution's size category is defined as full-time enrollment plus 1/3 of part-time enrollment and is based on the enrollment reported by the institution to the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
