For more than 20 years, Dr. Tammy Johnson has worked at multiple institutions, in various areas of higher education, including student affairs, athletics, admissions and enrollment management. Currently, she serves as Dean of Admissions and Enrollment Services at Marshall University, with oversight of undergraduate, graduate, and international admission, as well as international student service functions and student financial aid.
Dr. Johnson is an active member of AACRAO, having twice served as Chair of the AACRAO Admissions Policies and Practices Committee, and has presented multiple times, on a variety of subjects, at state, regional and national conferences (AACRAO, NAFSA, NASPA, AESA). Her areas of research interest include issues related to equity and access for all underrepresented populations, with published work appearing in The Chronicle of Higher Education, AACRAO SEM, the NASPA sponsored book “Increasing Adult Learner Persistence and Completion Rates: A Guide for Student Affairs Leaders and Practitioners” and, most recently, in the AACRAO book "Recruiting and Retaining a Diverse Student Body." She holds earned degrees from The University of Charleston (B.S.), Texas Woman's University (M.Ed.), and Marshall University (Ed.D.).
Dr. Johnson is the current co-chair of AACRAO's LGBTQIA Caucus.
