AACRAO Elections Position Statement (2024-2025 Nominations & Elections Committee)
I am the Registrar at Kalamazoo College, where I have worked for 14 years. I have over 25 years’ experience in higher education, holding positions in academic support, admissions, financial aid, operation, and as a faculty member for various institutions. I have been presenting at AACRAO conferences since 2011 on topics including Small College Admissions, Best Practices for Transfer Credit, Managing Your Image in a Registrar’s Office, Change Management, Changing a College-Wide Grading Scheme, Transfer Student Orientation, Implementing Chosen Name and Pronoun. I have served on the Small College Issues Committee, the Transfer and Articulation Committee, the Mentorship Work Group, and am a member of the Women’s Caucus. I was also featured on a For the Record podcast and in The Successful Registrar for my work in implementing a chosen name policy at Kalamazoo College.
I feel my broad experiences in higher education and involvement with AACRAO give me a distinct perspective when it comes to the work AACRAO engages in and the kinds of leaders needed to help AACRAO continue to grow its membership and influence the trajectory of higher education nationwide. If elected my goals would be to thoroughly vet candidates in light of AACRAO's goals and objectives and to present a slate of candidates that represent the diverse makeup of the industry. Said candidates would ideally be looking to advance and support a richly diverse, globally interconnected community of higher education professionals as well as the institutions, organizations, and learners they serve through resources, leadership, and advocacy.
