With over 15 years in higher education and community outreach, I am excited to offer a solid range of expertise in service on the N&E Committee. With a decade in EM leadership as director of admissions, registrar, financial aid consultation and student outreach, most recently at private institutions, I bring a holistic perspective in considering all vital factors as we facilitate review, voting and appointments.
As a certified strengths/diversity coach and having chaired several DEI and L&D committees, I am especially geared toward assembling diverse teams of truly qualified individuals for the task, ensuring that mission, vision, scope and desired outcomes are met in the most equitable and inclusive manner for all. As a person of color raised in the diverse city of Los Angeles, it has been a natural life-long journey for me to volunteer for community development, domestically and across 12 countries, 4 continents.
I have been involved with PACRAO, RMACRAO and IACRAO, observing the variations of size, influence and enablement, and hope to influence an improved sense of camaraderie, resource-sharing and inter-regional collaboration, so that no one region is better or more desired than the other. I’ve presented at the AACRAO meeting, was asked to present at RMACRAO and IACRAO workshops, and will present at SEM this fall, for leadership development.
Therefore, my goals are to ensure (1) N&E fosters genuine endeavors of diversity and unity not just for the accolades but for true representation of both inclusivity and eligibility; (2) AACRAO leadership truly keeps moving forward in this ever-changing landscape of education amidst new societal topics, especially virtual formats, changes in legislation, and evolution of identity; and (3) elections do empower strong relationships from national to regional, vertically and horizontally, so that the regional associations have equal empowerment, access and belonging, regardless of location.
