SCO Perspectives on Serving Veteran and Military‑Connected Students
This Collective Gathering will bring together professionals supporting Veteran and Military‑Connected students to discuss current issues impacting School Certifying Officials (SCOs) and related offices. Participants will share experiences, strategies, and challenges related to compliance requirements, operational structures, reporting processes, and program approvals. The session is designed as an interactive discussion, with guiding questions, examples listed below, to encourage peer exchange across institutions.
Discussion Questions:
- How have different SCO offices handled the new Dual Objective requirements?
- How have institutions navigated federal shutdowns in the past, and what tips or lessons learned can be shared?
- How do different offices utilize Annual Reporting Fees?
- Where is your institution’s SCO(s) located (e.g., registrar, business services, or another office), and what are the pros and cons of that placement?
- If your institution has an approved Continuing Education (CE) program, what was the most challenging part of obtaining approval?
