Budgets are tight at most institutions. This is especially true for small, private ones. To address this issue, AACRAO International provides on-site trainings customized to meet the needs of the specific institution therefore cutting costs and maximizing time. Maria Kohnke, Associate Provost of Academic Services & Registrar at California Lutheran University, had this to say about her recent two-day training provided by
Ann Koenig:
"AACRAO was very responsive during the process to set up the two day training. We were coordinating between two offices on campus here, Admissions and Academic Services, as well as with AACRAO. Setting up training of this type can be very complicated and time consuming. However, AACRAO made it very easy and were able to make adjustments to the agenda based the countries we most serve.
The two-day, intensive training by AACRAO accomplished precisely what we hoped it would. For those who were more experienced it provided a framework for self-assessment, process revision, and a deeper knowledge of our key markets. For those with less experience, the training created a solid foundation and provided essential skills. Long-term we are confident that the impact of the training will be felt, not only in our practice in working with international and study abroad students, but will also institutionally as we engage in meaningful collaboration across departments.
As a small private institution, budget is always an issue. However, we were able to have 19 people attend the training; something that the university would not have been able to provide otherwise."
