Role: Vice President for Strategy, Enrollment Management and Student Success
Dr. Tomikia LeGrande adds to AACRAO’s diverse consulting expertise with more than 15 years of progressive enrollment management leadership experience, 10 of which as the chief enrollment officer at large and medium size public institutions.
As the current Vice President for Strategy, Enrollment Management and Student Success at Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. LeGrande specializes in strategic enrollment management planning, new technology implementation, change management, and
policy and business process redesign as viable means to achieve the enrollment goals of the university.
Dr. LeGrande has significant experience and expertise in recruitment and retention strategies to support college access, affordability and students success at institutions with ranging levels of competitiveness, coupled with a strong commitment to
serving underrepresented groups. With a personalized approach, she engages at all levels of the organization through forming, deploying and managing matrix teams that grapple with and find solutions to the difficult questions that
impact University progress.
At the national level, Dr. LeGrande has been actively engaged in issues of access, equity, higher education policy and leadership development. Tomikia is a regular presenter and facilitator on the topic of educational equity and student success.
She testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and Labor in 2019 during a hearing on “Innovation to Improve Equity: Exploring High-Quality Pathways to a College Degree”. In addition to serving as an adjunct
professor in higher education leadership, Tomikia has paved the way in diversity initiatives for higher education. She helped kick off the AACRAO Leaders in Enrollment Advancing Diversity (LEAD) Initiative, with goals to take a multi-pronged approach
to identifying and preparing a diverse group of enrollment leaders for leadership roles in Enrollment Management in North America and across the globe.
Dr. LeGrande earned a Doctorate of Education from Texas Tech University, Master of Science from North Carolina A&T University and Bachelor of Science from Savannah State University.
