Welcome to the new AACRAO website. While the site is live, development is ongoing, visitors can expect updates and new features in the weeks ahead.

Dear Readers,

The word “edge” carries a contradiction if you trace it to the Proto-Indo-European root “ak-“—meaning sharp, or pierce, like blades, borders, and the brink of things. But you’ll also find that “ak-” also points to “egg”—something round, fragile, full of what hasn’t happened yet. So edges can cut, protect, define, but they can also feel tender, breakable, not yet ready. Here we are at the edge of spring and summer, a time when we can try to make room for new horizons through time off, travel, learning, and professional development, or staring into the void and doing absolutely nothing. You can approach your edges with cautious curiosity, as you cut through to the unknown and see what’s there.

In this issue:

With appreciation,
