Institutions Picked for Campus Resilience Pilot Program
April 03, 2013
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced this week the institutions chosen to participate in a new pilot program for emergency preparedness and resilience planning at colleges and universities.
Drexel University, Eastern Connecticut State University, Green River Community College, Navajo Technical College, Texas A&M University, Tougaloo College, and the University of San Francisco will collaborate on the Campus Resilience Pilot Program to explore ways to help colleges prevent emergencies and respond to those that occur.
“This is an important step in our work with the academic community to help campuses prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from and mitigate crisis and emergency situations,” said Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano in a press release. “Through their work with DHS, these colleges and universities will help us further develop best practices, resources and tools needed to assist campus communities nationwide in their efforts to reduce gun violence on campuses and bolster resilience and emergency planning processes for all types of hazards.”
