The Ministry of Education announced that students graduating this year will be able to download and print their high school diploma free of charge and without needing to legalize it to enter universities or institutes.

For the first time in Bolivia, nearly 200,000 students graduating from high school this year will receive their diplomas digitally and completely free of charge , announced Education Minister Ricardo Erick Sanjinés . The measure aims to streamline academic procedures, reduce costs for families, and generate savings in public funds.

The authority explained that the new system will allow each student to download and print their degree as many times as needed, without making additional payments or going to offices to obtain copies or legalizations.

Savings for families

The minister highlighted that another major benefit will be the elimination of the process of legalizing the high school diploma, a requirement that many students had to meet to enter universities and higher education institutions.

He explained that the procedure had an average cost of Bs 180 in the country.

He also indicated that students will be able to complete this process from anywhere in the country, avoiding travel to departmental capitals or even to the city of La Paz.

There will also be savings for the state governments.

Sanjinés asserted that the implementation of the digital degree will also optimize the use of public resources. As an example, he noted that the Santa Cruz government allocated approximately Bs 9 million for issuing these documents.

With the new system, those resources can be redirected to other priority areas.

“In the case of Santa Cruz, approximately 9 million bolivianos were allocated for this purpose. Now the Governor’s Office will be able to use those funds for another purpose,” he stated.

Who will have access to the benefit?

The minister clarified that the measure is aimed solely at students who will obtain their high school diploma during the current academic year and does not include, for the time being, those who graduated in previous years and have not yet processed the document.

With this initiative, the Ministry of Education seeks to modernize educational management through the digitization of official documents, facilitating access to higher education for new high school graduates and reducing time, costs and bureaucratic procedures.
