According to the instructions for registration for basic and secondary education tests and exams, published today on the Directorate-General for Education's website, registration is mandatory for both internal students – who are taking the exam to complete the subject – and self-enrolled students.
Students are required to take a Portuguese exam and must choose two additional exams from the specific subject area of their course, in addition to the subjects they select for university entrance purposes.
Registration is done online, on the electronic platform available at jnepiepe.dge.mec.pt, and the deadline is March 19th.
The first phase of the national exams starts on June 16th, with the Portuguese and Economics A exams, and ends on June 26th with Drawing A and Philosophy.
According to the General Examination Guide 2026, also published today, during the registration period for the first phase of the national exams, students can also request a password to access the online application system for the national higher education entrance exam.
For access to higher education, the information provided also reminds applicants of the need to request the ENES form, which contains information about valid entrance exams, completion and classification of secondary education, necessary for the application.
