Second-year high school students began the AVANZO test this Tuesday , the exam that measures the learning acquired at the end of secondary education. The evaluation was administered virtually and will continue tomorrow, Wednesday, November 5, in two sessions, as established by the Ministry of Education (MINED).
According to the official schedule, today students were evaluated in the subjects of Precalculus and Citizenship and Values, while tomorrow they will be evaluated in Science and Technology and Language and Literature. Last October, students also completed the socio-emotional questionnaire and the English diagnostic test.
The president of the Association of Private Schools (ACPES), Javier Hernández, explained in an interview with Telecorporación Salvadoreña (TCS) this morning that "the test is being administered virtually on a student's device within the educational center" and that they have teacher support during the process
The AVANZO test has replaced the Learning and Aptitude Test for High School Graduates (PAES) since 2020 and represents 15% of students' final grade. Hernández specified that "it is a snapshot of the moment, a measurement that shows the condition of the education system."
For those who cannot take AVANZO on the two days set by the Ministry of Education (MINED), an extraordinary evaluation has been scheduled for December 12, while the results of the test administered this week will be sent on December 10 to each student's email address.
