Manny Smith is a first-generation college student turned entrepreneur and technology leader. He earned a scholarship to the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he competed as a Division I athlete in football and track, then served eight years on active duty as a technical program manager, leading teams that launched coveted military satellite systems and enterprise software supporting national defense.
Inspired by the transformative power of education, Manny earned his MBA at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business (FTMBA ’21) and founded EdVisorly with a clear mission: to expand access, equity, and opportunity in higher education. As Founder & CEO, he leads an AI enrollment platform that partners with colleges and universities across the U.S. and internationally to make admissions and enrollment decisions faster, more transparent, and more equitable — leveraging AI to automate transcript evaluation and admissions operations, credit mobility, and credit evaluations to provide students clarity and support in the admissions and enrollment process.
Under his leadership, EdVisorly has grown to 50+ employees, while helping over 100 institutional partners measurably improve enrollment outcomes for the students they serve. The company has been recognized as an innovator in AI and higher education, including selection into Google’s Founders Fund. Manny previously served on the Board of the Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund (SV2) and continues to advise early and growth-stage startups.
