AACRAO Elections Position Statement (2024-2025 Nominations & Elections Committee)
I have been a member of AACRAO for several years and early in my higher education career, I had an opportunity to present at an AACRAO annual conference (New Orleans 2010). At the time of that presentation, I was leading the Academic Advising team at my institution, and we knew there was a collaborative role between Registrars, Admission Officers, and Advisors; members of AACRAO agreed, and we had a great conversation during and after our presentation.
While I’ve been a member, I’ve witnessed changes in our industry, profession, economy, politics, and culture that impact how higher education organizations operate. However, I have continued to be impressed with how AACRAO has ensured that it is at the table and able to be a part of and shape the conversation and outcomes. That is done through the leadership of our organization. The Nominations and Elections Committee is vital to presenting leadership candidates, promoting involvement through voting, and promoting involvement through leadership announcements. Leadership at all levels is critical to the success of any organization, which is evident in this organization’s 100+ years of existence. I am accepting this nomination because I want to be involved with the organization and help to bring forth leaders that can ensure that AACRAO continues to be at the table and making a difference.
