Description:

Role Overview

Project Based Learning (PBL) Facilitators will facilitate break out sessions at The Assembly, the AACRAO Learning Mobility Convening (formerly The AACRAO Technology & Transfer Conference), called Project-Based Learning (PBL) Pods. PBL Pods are small, collaborative groups with 8-10 individuals working on real challenges related to credit mobility, technology, or skills and competencies. The Facilitators will lead the discussion and be active participants during the breakout sessions. In the pod, Facilitators won’t be the “subject-matter expert” so much as the guide, helping participants stay aligned on the problem, map constraints, and produce practical outputs.

PBL Pod participants will:

  • Work with peers on real institutional challenges.
  • Explore barriers and opportunities.
  • Create practical solutions they can take back to campus.
  • Leave with tangible outcomes and next steps.

Each PBL pod will focus on one of the three paths: credit mobility, technology, or skills and competencies. Check out our website to learn more about each pathway.

Each Pod Facilitator will manage one pod and is responsible for:

  • Guiding the pod breakouts
  • Submitting daily surveys with meeting artifacts
  • Managing room materials

Selected applicants will be notified in early June 2026.

Impact

Facilitators leave with stronger facilitation skills, a broader view of how learning mobility shows up across institutions, and a peer network to continue the work through optional follow-up virtual sessions. Facilitators will also earn a microcredential at the end of the Transforming Learning Mobility course.

Time Commitment

Facilitators will spend about 8-9 hours on this role. Two to three hours will be spent on the Transforming Learning Mobility course. Two hours will be spent on a virtual training session on July 8, 2026 from 2:00 pm ET – 4:00 pm ET or July 9, 2026 from 12:00 pm ET – 2:00 pm ET. Four hours will be spent facilitating at The Assembly, the AACRAO Learning Mobility Convening. Pods begin in the morning on Sunday, July 19 and run through the afternoon on July 22. Each PBL Pod will meet four times during The Assembly, the AACRAO Learning Mobility Convening.
