Dear Readers,
Would you consider a “fact” as something completed or a deed that’s been done? That’s what the origins of the Latin “facere” or the French “fait” tell us. If you accept this idea and combine it with the Latin origin of “data,” or “dare” as something given or granted, our knowledge can be developed through various forms. We create common definitions, collect insights through questions asked and answers given, search for clarity among misconceptions, and also crowdsource nominations and applications to bestow awards and fellowships. We are connected through deeds and data. The more we contribute, the better the chances are that our collective results add value, rather than waste potential.
