Dear Readers,
Act, don’t overthink. Think before acting. Depending on the circumstances and who you ask, you could get conflicting advice. I’m about halfway through reading George R.R. Martin’s popular five-book fantasy series while also beginning a rewatch of the popular television series. The writer/editor in me likes to compare the book and the show simultaneously to relive the story while spotting inconsistencies. I’ve been reflecting on an episode (no spoilers, I promise), where the character Littlefinger remarks, “Quick tempers, slow minds.” Naturally, I began overthinking the idea of acting on impulse or emotion versus not acting, and when it’s more or less dangerous to decide which course to take. As knowledge workers and educators, it’s good to recognize that we sometimes have a little grace to make informed decisions. This issue provides information to that effect.
