Dear Readers,
The word “patience” comes from the Latin “patientia,” meaning “to suffer, endure.” It’s a fitting word for the end of term, when final exams, tests, grades, deadlines, transcripts, and anxious questions seem to arrive all at once … and test your patience. For our profession, patience can be an active and practiced skill, showing up in the careful answer, the double-check, the calm, often procedural, and repetitive explanation, and the grace extended to students, families, colleagues, and ourselves. As the academic year reaches another end of term, may patience be less of a burden and more of a shared professional strength.
