Welcome to the new AACRAO website. While the site is live, development is ongoing, visitors can expect updates and new features in the weeks ahead.

Dear Readers,

Spring has a way of changing our rituals. When Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring” premiered in 1913—notably just a few years after the first AACRAO Annual Meeting in 1910—it allegedly caused a riot. The audience wasn’t ready for something so primal. Over a century later, spring can provoke strong opinions … about beverages. Each of you may have your own “Rite of Spring”: the mug that got you through winter may give way to an iced coffee thermos or chilled sweet tea tumbler, or even a chilled kombucha to-go bottle as the days lengthen, leaves return, and the first blooms of the dogwoods start to show. While work is heating up with final exam scheduling or commencement planning, even a simple morning beverage can feel like the most important ritual of the day.

As the season shifts, do your preferences shift, too? Do you stay loyal to a hot cup, or welcome spring with ice and fizz? As we head toward the Annual Meeting, consider this your invitation to compare notes. Whether your spring beverage ritual runs hot or iced, fizzed or bubbled, your special preparations just might make the perfect icebreaker for new conversations in New Orleans.
