Title IX Regulations
The Trump administration reinstated the 2020 Title IX regulations. Ongoing Title IX investigations opened under the Biden-era regulations will be reevaluated using the 2020 Title IX regulations. Officials within the U.S. Department of Education stated that the agency will return to enforcing Title IX protections on the basis of biological sex in schools and on campuses. The 2020 Title IX regulations limit reporting to incidents that took place on campus and more narrowly define sexual harassment compared to the Biden-era regulations, among other changes. The U.S. Department of Education released a “Dear Colleague” Letter clarifying how Title IX is being enforced consistent with the Trump administrations executive order, “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.”
