About the Job

POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing & Communication Coordinator, supports the Marketing & Communication Department in executing and monitoring communications, marketing, and advertising strategies across AACRAO. This role includes a broad portfolio that includes email marketing, social media, website content management, meeting and event communications support, podcast and video production coordination, and data stewardship. The Coordinator is a hands-on digital communications generalist who ensures consistent, on-brand, and timely messaging across all channels.

    Salary: $56,500 - $60,000

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Email Marketing & Campaign Management

    • Schedule and deploy all organizational eblasts and newsletters, coordinating with content owners across departments to gather copy, proof emails, update links and graphics, and ensure timely delivery to the correct member segments.

    • Implement event-driven email campaigns (registration reminders, calls for proposals, special invitations) for all AACRAO meetings and events.

    • Build and maintain automated email workflows; apply suppression logic and list hygiene practices to protect member experience and deliverability.

    • Respond to member communication inquiries and manage opt-in/opt-out requests through the organizational inbox.

    • Support promotion of all AACRAO publications, productions, and events through appropriate email channels.

    Social Media Management

    • Implement a weekly social content calendar across AACRAO's active platforms, tailoring content approach and format to each channel's audience and best practices.

    • Create original on-brand graphics and visual assets to support AACRAO events, publications, member programs, and organizational initiatives.

    • Monitor daily social listening reports; engage with members and partner organizations, and surface relevant external commentary to appropriate internal teams.

    • Compile quarterly social media performance reports; share insights and recommendations with the MarComm team to inform ongoing content strategy.

    • Prepare social media toolkits for AACRAO meetings and events to support promotion by attendees, presenters, and corporate partners.

    • Maintain the AACRAO YouTube channel, including video uploads, descriptions, playlist organization, and migration of recorded webinars.

    Website Content Management

    • Review, approve, and publish web pages, event listings, and content submitted by staff; ensure adherence to the AACRAO style guide, proper tagging, and copy accuracy.

    • Build and maintain website pages, including pages for AACRAO meetings, member programs, publications, and research; collaborate with relevant teams to keep content current.

    • Configure forms and tracking mechanisms for gated content (e.g., research reports) to support lead capture and data stewardship.

    Data Stewardship & Analytics

    • Serve as the Marketing & Communication data steward: collect, clean, and submit social media and email performance data for organizational dashboard integration.

    • Attend cross-departmental data steward meetings; contribute MarComm data updates and respond to data requests from other teams.

    • Collaborate with the Director, Impact & Engagement, to develop and maintain a MarComm performance dashboard aligned to strategic priorities.

    Skills & Abilities:

    • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and effectively for diverse audiences across digital channels.

    • Strong editing, proofreading, and visual communication skills.

    • Experience managing email marketing campaigns, including list management, automated workflows, form building, and performance analytics.

    • Working knowledge of social media management and content strategy across major platforms, including experience with scheduling tools and social listening.

    • Experience managing content in a CMS; ability to build, edit, and publish web pages in adherence to a style guide. Familiarity with WordPress preferred.

    • Graphic design proficiency; ability to produce on-brand visual assets for digital and print channels.

    • Working knowledge of HTML for email and web content formatting.

    • Experience coordinating video and multimedia content production.

    • Familiarity with web and social analytics tools for performance reporting.

    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous campaigns, deadlines, and stakeholders independently.

    • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse, partially remote team and to give and receive constructive feedback.

    • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills for regular interaction with internal and external audiences.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with the following tools is preferred: Pardot or equivalent marketing automation platform; Meltwater or equivalent social media management platform; WordPress; Canva or equivalent design tool; Vocal Video or equivalent video collection platform; Google Analytics.

    • Ability to travel up to 10%.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or other applicable field

    • One to two years of marketing or communications experience, including internships, preferably at a non-profit membership association or similar organization.

    • Demonstrated experience executing email campaigns and social media in a professional or internship setting.  

    • Knowledge of higher education environment preferred
