At the close of the 2025-2026 school year, the 527,480 students graduating from public high schools will receive a Professional Training certificate, which will be endorsed by higher education institutions, reported the head of the SEP, Mario Delgado.
He highlighted that this was achieved thanks to the support of 26 national and state universities for the new National Baccalaureate, promoted by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
After signing a collaboration agreement to incorporate 20 more universities into the six that were already participating, Mario Delgado highlighted that the graduates will be the first generation to receive a Professional Training certificate.
He explained that of the total, 302,111 correspond to the Technological Baccalaureate and 225,369 to the General Baccalaureate.
During the session of the Academic Council for the Transformation of Technological and Professional Education at the Upper Secondary level, the head of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP) assured that young people who receive their certificate with the seal of a recognized university will be enthusiastic and, surely, will want to continue with their studies.
Therefore, this generation of the new National Baccalaureate will have a direct impact on higher education, and they will be the young people who arrive better prepared and with more skills to face higher education.”
In the presence of rectors and directors from various universities across the country, Mario Delgado noted that, thanks to the support of the head of the Federal Executive, more high schools are currently being built, others are being expanded, and middle schools are being converted to create more spaces, so that young people can continue their studies. The challenge for this administration is to create 200,000 new spaces.
He expressed his gratitude for the support and effort made by universities to back the National Baccalaureate , thereby assuming their responsibility to offer alternatives to this generation of young people: a generation of students who deserve the support of educational authorities.
