A total of 8,314 people have registered across the region to participate in the program to obtain their Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and Baccalaureate qualifications. Specifically, Málaga has received 1,923 registrations for the ESO qualification , out of the 7,126 registered throughout Andalusia. This program provides a pathway for adults over 18 to access this basic qualification within the education system, enabling them to continue their academic studies at the higher levels of Baccalaureate and Vocational Training programs.
Thus, the exams are designed as a second chance for students who dropped out of their studies prematurely, as well as for those who were unable to complete their training previously. These exams are repeated annually in the April and June sessions, held both morning and afternoon. There are 41 evaluation committees, 9 of which are located in the province of Málaga.
The exam content corresponds to the Compulsory Secondary Education stage for adults and is organized around three areas of knowledge : Science and Technology, Social Sciences, and Communication. To obtain the qualification, it is necessary to pass all three exams. However, if a candidate does not pass all the exams, the grades for the passed areas will be retained and will be valid throughout Spain. Therefore, candidates can obtain the Graduate qualification by retaking the failed areas in subsequent exam sessions.
Likewise, those who have previously completed Compulsory Secondary Education, either through the general system or for adults, and have passed certain subjects or areas will be exempt from taking the corresponding tests, in accordance with the established equivalencies. Once the tests on April 11th have concluded, a new application period will open, from April 13th to May 4th, for participation in the June 2026 session, which will take place on June 20th.
High School Graduation Exams
Regarding the exams for obtaining the Baccalaureate degree for people over 20, the first day of testing will take place this Saturday, April 11, and will continue on Saturday, April 18, with the second day. Eight evaluation committees have been formed to organize the exams; one of these committees is for the province of Malaga, where 331 people are registered.
Candidates will be examined on subjects belonging to the common , modality and optional subjects block of the different baccalaureate modalities: Humanities and Social Sciences, Sciences and Technology, General, and Arts in its two paths, that of Plastic Arts, Image and Design and that of Music and Performing Arts.
The aim of these exams is to facilitate access to an official academic qualification for Andalusians, encouraging their reintegration into the education system to complete their training with higher education. The Regional Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training holds an exam session each year, divided into two days. To obtain the Baccalaureate, it will be necessary to pass all the exams. However, passed subjects can be carried over to future exam sessions. Those who have already completed and passed one or more subjects in Baccalaureate or equivalent education will be exempt from taking part of the exams.
