The Ministry of Education has introduced an emergency plan to prevent disruptions during the Abitur exams . School principals can now be notified via emergency text message if exams need to be swapped or canceled. Previously, communication was limited to phone and email. According to the ministry, 85 percent of affected schools have so far signed up for the emergency text message service.
Questions can be clarified via chat
There’s also a new feature regarding the download of exam papers: Any problems that arise will now be resolved directly via a chat function. According to the ministry, on an “alert day” held on February 11, schools were able to test the functionality of email, chat, and SMS services, as well as practice the smooth decryption and delivery of exam papers. “Students must be able to rely on being able to complete their exams as undisturbed as possible during the already stressful phase of the written Abitur exams, even in the event of unforeseen incidents,” said Education Minister Julia Willie Hamburg (Green Party).
