The Ministry of National Education has set the dates for the written examinations assessing the learning outcomes of primary school students. According to circular no. 131, the assessments will take place in early May 2026, without any interruption to the school calendar for other grade levels.

In an effort to stabilize the educational organization of the primary cycle, the Ministry of National Education published, on February 15, 2026, circular no. 131 detailing the organizational arrangements for the assessment of acquired skills for the 2025/2026 school year.
The official schedule designates Tuesday 5, Wednesday 6, and Thursday 7 May 2026 for the written examinations. This assessment, which concerns fifth-grade primary school students (5AP), is a pivotal step in diagnosing the skills acquired during the five years of primary school.
Maintaining educational continuity
One of the major specificities reaffirmed by this ministerial note concerns the management of school time. Unlike previous national exams, which often led to a suspension of classes, the ministry specified that the exams will take place during official school hours and the normal course of classes will be guaranteed for all other levels (from 1st to 4th grade).
An assessment with educational purposes
It is important to remember that this exam alone does not determine progression to the first year of middle school; progression remains based on the annual average. The assessment of acquired skills aims primarily to provide a precise map of each student’s strengths and weaknesses, thus enabling personalized academic support from the moment they enter middle school.
Education authorities across the country are now responsible for overseeing the technical and logistical preparations to ensure the smooth running of these three days of tests.
