“Today, what I can tell you is that you have a President who stands with the young men and women of Mexico, and what we want is for them to go to school, to learn in school,” she expressed.
Furthermore, she added that the goal is to increase educational infrastructure and recover those who abandoned their studies. She indicated that the new campus is part of the “Nueva Escuela Mexicana” (New Mexican School) strategy to increase coverage in upper secondary education.
“Where should young people be? Well, we have to build more schools… and all those who, for some reason, leave school, we have to go look for them at their homes so they return,” she noted.
Sheinbaum Pardo explained that her government has generated more than 50,000 new spots through school construction, expansions, and the conversion of middle schools, with a goal of exceeding 150,000 places by the end of 2026. She also expressed her disagreement with admission exams at this educational level and announced revisions to study plans to simplify the academic load. Additionally, she informed that students benefiting from the Benito Juárez Universal Scholarship will receive their financial support at the end of February, while those who do not yet have a card can register in the coming months.
For her part, the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, highlighted the coordination between both levels of government to finalize the project, for which the state donated a plot of land of more than 30,000 square meters.
“Education is a priority for us; being on the side of the youth is what guides our work,” the state leader affirmed.
She also announced that next year, 40 additional middle schools will be converted into high schools to expand coverage. She indicated that CBTIS No. 292, located in the Los Ángeles neighborhood, began operations for the 2025–2026 school year with an initial enrollment of 302 students and a capacity to serve up to 900 students across two shifts. Its academic offerings include areas linked to the digital economy, such as e-commerce, semiconductors, microelectronics, and artificial intelligence.
The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, reported that the work required an investment of 48 million pesos in infrastructure and an additional 17 million in equipment. The campus features classrooms, laboratories, workshops, administrative areas, and sports facilities.
Finally, the Undersecretary of Upper Secondary Education, Tania Rodríguez Mora, called on students to take advantage of the facilities and complete their studies.
