Subject: Start from Yes. Help Shape the Future of Learning Recognition.

Body:

Dear Colleagues,

Learning happens everywhere. In classrooms. On the job. Through military service. In dual enrollment programs. Online. Through industry credentials. Yet the systems used to evaluate and recognize that learning have not kept pace with the ways people learn today.

For too many learners, the result is familiar: credits that don’t transfer, learning that goes unrecognized, and longer, more expensive pathways to earning a credential.

Start from Yes.

Rather than beginning with the assumption that learning cannot be recognized, we challenge institutions and systems to begin with the expectation that learners are prepared for continued education unless evidence suggests otherwise.

This shift in thinking has the potential to benefit everyone. Learners gain clearer pathways to credentials. Institutions better serve today’s increasingly mobile students. States and regional economies retain and develop the skilled workforce they need.

We’re proud to support this effort because meaningful change requires voices from across higher education and the broader learning ecosystem.

We’re seeking additional perspectives to help inform its recommendations.

We invite you to complete a brief survey and share your experiences with learning evaluation and recognition.

Your input will help shape recommendations that reflect the realities facing learners, institutions, employers, and partners across the country. Together, we can help create a future where learning is recognized for its value and every learner begins with opportunity.
