Dr. Carrell, a proud husband and father of two, grew up in East Texas and began his higher education career at his alma mater, The University of Texas at Tyler. Over the course of thirteen years there he served as Recorder,
Assistant Registrar, and Associate Registrar, and earned both his M.B.A. and Ph.D. from the Soules College of Business. Dr. Carrell relocated in 2021 to take on the role of University Registrar at the University of Maine, and in
2025 to assume his current role as University Registrar at Michigan State University.
