Slated Position: VP at Large Candidate
Position Statement
I am honored to be considered for the role of Vice President at Large for AACRAO. With over a decade of experience in higher education and the past three years serving as a Product Manager in information technology, I bring a strategic, systems-oriented perspective grounded in improving student experience and advancing institutional effectiveness.
In my current role, I have led initiatives to enhance transparency and decision-making, including the development of a review site for the Admissions and Honors programs. This work required strong cross-functional collaboration, disciplined execution, and a focus on delivering solutions that meet clearly defined goals. My approach to leadership centers on accountability and clarity; ensuring deliverables are met on time, solutions are thoroughly tested, and communication remains transparent. I also bring a willingness to make difficult decisions, including refining scope, when necessary, to protect priorities and ensure successful outcomes, including delivering an application that streamlined the admissions review process, reduced manual effort, and improved visibility for reviewers.
My engagement with AACRAO reflects sustained commitment and leadership growth across the association. Since beginning my volunteer service as Vice Chair of the Black Caucus, I have taken on increasing responsibility, now serving as Chair of the Black Caucus and Chair of the 2027 Program Committee, following my role as Vice Chair of the 2026 Program Committee. I have also contributed through the Nominations and Elections Committee, the Transfer Summit Advisory Committee, and as co-host of AACRAO’s podcast, H.E.A.R.D., where I help elevate member voices and support broader communication and engagement. In addition, I have presented at multiple annual conferences and participated in Congressional Hill Day. These experiences have allowed me to support member engagement, contribute to program development, and gain a broad understanding of AACRAO’s governance and operations.
Throughout my leadership roles, I have focused on creating clarity, alignment, and accountability by strengthening communication, supporting inclusive decision-making, and ensuring initiatives remain aligned to their intended goals. These experiences have shaped my approach to governance and strategic planning, emphasizing both thoughtful innovation and disciplined execution.
As Vice President at Large, I would focus on strengthening communication between the Board and membership, supporting transparent and effective governance practices, and contributing to strategic planning efforts that position AACRAO for continued growth. I bring a perspective that balances innovation with discipline, ensuring that strategic goals are not only ambitious but also achievable and clearly executed.
I would be honored to serve and contribute to advancing AACRAO’s mission through thoughtful leadership, clear strategy, and meaningful member engagement.
