Slated Position: 2027-2028 N&E Committee Member Candidate
Position Statement
Dear AACRAO Members,
I am honored to be among those on the slate for service on AACRAO’s Nominations and Elections Committee. With more than 20 years in higher education, I have had the opportunity to work across institutions, functional areas, and professional communities, giving me a broad perspective on the diverse needs of AACRAO’s membership.
My career in higher education began as a computer programmer at New Jersey Institute of Technology, where I gained an understanding of the technical infrastructure and operational needs of a smaller institution. I later transitioned into a techno-functional role as an Associate Registrar charged with data management, where I gained valuable, hands-on experience with functions that included academic record maintenance, degree audit, graduation, data stewardship, reporting, vendor management, and an end-to-end Banner ERP implementation. I now serve as an Associate University Registrar at Rutgers University, where my responsibilities include federal enrollment reporting, catalog, transcripts, and special projects, while navigating the complexities of a 70,000-student, multi-campus, dual-SIS, Big Ten research institution.
This progression – from technical to operational, and from a smaller institution to a large research university – has given me an appreciation for the different challenges and perspectives represented within AACRAO. I believe that diversity of institutional type, functional responsibility, geography, experience, and background, are essential factors when identifying the leaders who represent our association.
My experience outside of higher education has also shaped how I will approach this work. During three years I spent as an IT Recruiter on Wall Street, I developed skills in evaluating candidates, identifying leadership potential, understanding organizational needs, and recognizing qualities that contribute to a strong institutional fit. I believe those experiences will translate well toward the work of the Nominations and Elections Committee.
Through my involvement with the AAU Registrars’ LEAD group, AACRAO’s Federal Compliance PAC, the AACRAO Black Caucus, Big Ten Registrars, and regional AACRAO organizations, I have had the opportunity to hear from colleagues with different institutional roles and perspectives from across the country. These experiences have reinforced for me the importance of ensuring that AACRAO’s leadership reflects the diversity of the membership body. If elected, I will bring an open mind, a broad institutional perspective, and a genuine commitment to identifying and supporting leaders who can serve the interests of AACRAO’s diverse membership. I will approach the role with fairness, thoughtfulness, and a strong belief that the strength of our association depends on the strength and diversity of the people who lead it.
Thank you for your consideration and for the opportunity to serve AACRAO.
