Joseph Redington (“Joe” to friends and colleagues, “Joseph Patrick” to his mother when he was in trouble) is originally from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He completed his bachelor of arts degree in English and Philosophy from The University of Scranton, and his master of arts degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Maryland at College Park, where he also completed doctoral coursework in the same field. Upon leaving studies, he worked in higher education as an adjunct in English and American Studies at Fordham University, Manhattan College, and Manhattanville College (now Manhattanville University).
At Manhattanville he began his administrative career as director of commuter and transfer student affairs, before being promoted to assistant dean of studies, associate dean of advising for first-year and transfer students, and finally registrar, where he served in that role for three years. He then moved to Misericordia University as University Registrar, serving in that role for almost 15 years before moving to the same position at The University of Scranton in 2024.
Mr. Redington has been involved in AACRAO since 2006, having served on the Small Colleges Group, the Academic Progress Committee and the Public Policy Advocacy Group. In 2011 he was a summer fellow at the Peabody Professional Institute for Senior Academic and Enrollment Professionals. He was part of the workgroup/writing committee for the AACRAO “Guide to Best Practices: Articulation Agreements” in 2019. He is a member of MSACROA, having served on the Nominations and Elections committee and as part of the by-laws and constitution revision task force.. He has also overseen two ERP implementations in his career, with a potential third on the horizon.
When not pondering matters related to transfer and technology, Mr. Redington can be found at the bookstore, at the movies, and at the sports bar cursing the performance of the Washington Commanders.
