Corey has spent 16 years at Virginia Peninsula Community College (VPCC), part of the 23-college Virginia Community College System. Her higher education career began in academic support services, where she served for 13 years as an Information Literacy Librarian and Tutoring Coordinator, focusing on student success through information literacy initiatives, faculty collaboration, and support for both traditional and non-traditional learners.
She currently serves as Associate Director of Admissions, bringing a systems-level perspective shaped by experience across student support and academic services to strengthen admissions and enrollment practices from entry through completion. In this role, she also collaborates with colleagues across the VCCS to advance shared student onboarding practices that support consistency and success at scale.
Corey is drawn to advocacy because comprehensive community colleges are often underrepresented in national higher education policy conversations, while the policies shaped in those conversations directly affect the students and communities she serves daily. She is particularly interested in advancing federal support to address large-scale identity-based application and financial aid fraud affecting open-access institutions, as well as promoting policies that strengthen access, completion, and transfer opportunities across higher education systems.
