Slated Position: President-Elect Candidate
Position Statement
My journey in higher education has been defined by a deep commitment to student success, collaborative governance, and the continuous evolution of our profession. Having served across the spectrum of our field—from Admissions to Registrar to my current role as Vice President of Student Services at Macomb Community College—I understand the intricate ecosystem of enrollment management, academic services and student affairs. More importantly, I understand the vital role AACRAO plays in guiding professionals through these rapidly changing landscapes.
My commitment to AACRAO is deeply rooted. I currently serve as Vice President at Large on the Board of Directors, where I chair the Strategic Planning Committee and contribute to the Governance, Human Resources, and Finance, Investments & Audit committees. This foundational experience on the Board, combined with my previous tenure as President of MACRAO (Michigan), has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of association governance, fiduciary health, and regional dynamics. I am interested in the President series, starting with the role of President-Elect, because I am ready to leverage AACRAO’s vision and mission with my professional experience to champion our members, support the AACRAO staff, the Board of Directors, and drive our collective strategic plan forward.
My Goals if Elected
If trusted with the role of President-Elect, I will focus my leadership on three strategic pillars to advance the Association’s mission:
1. Agile Strategic Planning and Implementation
As the current Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee, I am uniquely positioned to ensure seamless continuity in monitoring and executing AACRAO’s strategic plan. Collaborating with the President, the Executive Director, and the Board, my goal is to keep our strategic initiatives dynamic, measurable, and deeply reflective of the emerging trends in higher education. I will bring my campus executive experience—where I Ied large-scale strategic initiatives like Strategic Planning, multi-year registration projects, new student services models, and other student success initiatives to partner with AACRAO members, Board of Directors and the staff to cultivate visionary foresight.
2. Elevating Professional Development and Program Alignment
Serving as the Board liaison to the Annual Meeting Program Committee is an important responsibility. Our annual meeting, specialty conferences, peer learning and other training offerings are the lifeblood of professional growth for our members. Drawing from my background as an educator, author, and frequent AACRAO presenter, I will work alongside the AACRAO staff to support and expand broad, high-impact professional development programs. I am dedicated to ensuring our content delivery formats whether sessions, workshops, or publications—remain inclusive, cutting-edge, and accessible to institutions of all sizes and resource levels.
3. Advocating for Member Interests and Special Projects
A critical function of the President-Elect is to act as a conduit between the leadership and the membership. I will advocate for the diverse needs of our members on special Board projects, ensuring that the voices of our collective AACRAO community comprised of community colleges, four-year institutions, small colleges, MSI’s, and state/regional associations are represented in decisions to the best of my ability. I will champion initiatives that support the next generation of higher education leaders.
In Closing
Leadership is not about holding a title; it is about fostering trust, transparency, and shared purpose. I am eager to step into the role of President-Elect to listen to members needs, represent shared interests, and work alongside the Board, the Executive Director and the AACRAO staff to ensure AACRAO remains the premier guiding voice for higher education professionals globally.
AACRAO Bio
Prior to being the Vice President, she was the Registrar and Director of Enrollment Services as well as the Associate Director, Enrollment Services and has been serving in higher education as an administrator for twenty-five years in various Admissions, Advising, Registrar
Service areas at her previous institutions – Alma College, Davenport University and Siena Heights University.
In her current role, her portfolio of oversight includes the areas of Admissions & Outreach, Athletics, Career Services, Counseling &
Academic Advising, Dean of Student Success, International Students, K-12 Relations, Records & Registration, Special Services, Student Support Services, and Veteran & Military Services.
Dr. Jeffers serves on the Michigan College Access Network
(MCAN) Higher Education Advisory Board and is active in the MACRAO (Michigan Associate of Collegiate Registrars & Admission Officers) as well as AACRAO (American Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admission Officers) organizations having
held several leadership roles in both organizations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Music Education from Alma College, a Master of Arts in Adult Education from Central Michigan University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education with a concentration
in Leadership for Higher Education from Capella University.
