Alicia Butler Hewes is a higher education leader committed to access, student success, and academic policy. A first generation college graduate, her perspective is shaped by a deep understanding of how access and support systems influence student opportunity and outcomes.

She began her career as an academic advisor, supporting students in navigating degree requirements and institutional processes. This experience provided a foundation for her current role as Assistant Provost of Student Success and University Registrar. Across her work, she focuses on advancing clarity, equity, and student centered practices within institutional systems.

Alicia holds a Master of Education in Higher Education and has taught college transition courses, including College 101, First-Year Success, and Transfer Student Success, supporting students in their transition to college.

Her interest in public policy began during her undergraduate experience and has grown through her work, where she sees how policy shapes student pathways and institutional practice. She values AACRAO’s role in elevating the voices of higher education professionals and is committed to advancing equitable, student centered policy through advocacy and engagement.
