What Is AACRAO?

AACRAO is a non-profit, voluntary, professional association working to make higher education more responsive to learners. With a membership of more than 18,000 higher education professionals at approximately 2,300 institutions in more than 40 countries, collectively representing over 16.5 million enrolled students, the association provides advocacy, research, and policy-based guidance and training to higher education professionals to smooth the path for learners at every stage of their journey.

Membership Types

AACRAO offers membership options for professionals across higher education.

Institutional membership is open to staff and students at postsecondary degree-granting institutions in the United States accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Institutional memberships hold voting member status. Membership fees are based on total institutional expenditure.

Organization | $1000: Available to public sector and private non-profit organizations whose interests are closely aligned to AACRAO. Organizational memberships are non-voting.

System Office | $1000: Available to centralized offices, exclusively staff serving an entire system, within postsecondary higher education. System Offices hold voting member status.

Affiliate | *see Institutional Member dues: Open to state-licensed postsecondary institutions that are ineligible for regular voting membership.

High School | $320: Open to a registrar, counselor, or other personnel at a secondary school.

Associate | $320: Open to voting members of AACRAO who lose employment and become no longer eligible for membership.

Retired | $160: Open to individuals who have worked in the professions represented by AACRAO, have been a member, and are currently retired.

International Institution | $1300: Available to postsecondary institutions outside of the U.S. and Canada. International Institutions hold voting member status.

International Individual | $320: Open to education professionals and personnel at secondary or postsecondary institutions outside of North America.

Membership Dues

All active institutional members can add an unlimited number of individuals to their membership roster for free. This change supports AACRAO’s ongoing commitment to expanding access, innovation, and collaboration, providing full AACRAO membership benefits to all interested personnel at active member institutions.

Dues are based on an institution’s total reported expenditure.
