Regrettably, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel the 106th Annual Meeting in New Orleans. AACRAO’s Annual Meeting brings together over 2,000 higher education professionals from hundreds of colleges and universities from across the United States and several countries—all of whom will return to their campuses after spending several days in close proximity with each other.

Additionally, as a growing number of campuses are implementing travel restrictions for their staff and moving classes online for the remainder of the semester, we feel the need to prioritize serving our campuses and students in this time of need. Amid these developments, the WHO declaring the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic, and the Governor of Louisiana declaring a public health emergency, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel the 106th Annual Meeting in New Orleans.

We ask for your patience as we work through the details of cancelling this event. We have sent cancellation instructions to registrants. If you registered for the AACRAO Annual Meeting and have not received instructions, please contact AACRAO meetings.

FAQs

updated March 13, 2020
  • Why did AACRAO cancel the 106th Annual Meeting?

AACRAO closely monitored updates and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as state and local governments. We also actively followed travel advisories, institution restrictions, and overlaps with our attendees. When an ever-increasing number of attendees needing to be on campus to deal with the ramifications of COVID-19 reached critical mass, it became abundantly clear it was in the best interest of everyone to cancel despite requests to proceed with the meeting.

  • Are all events associated with the 106th Annual Meeting cancelled?

All events, including workshops as well as exhibitor and partner events, are canceled in New Orleans.

  • Will the 106th Annual Meeting be postponed until a later date or rescheduled?

Annual Meeting registrants will receive an invitation to a limited-seating, virtual Annual Meeting series.
